Sarah is a first year PhD candidate in sport pedagogy at the University of Basel and the freshest member of the HEADS Lab. In her PhD Project DEXTER she investigates the association of muscular strength and executive functions in children and adolescents. In less technical terms, she is interested in whether a stronger body supports a sharper mind. Her academic background lays in sport science, applied sport psychology and teaching, shaping her interest on the interface of movement, learning and development, with a special focus on bringing theory into practice.
Outside the lab, Sarah has spent over a decade volunteering in a sports summer camp, now in a leadership role, experiencing motivation, group dynamics and the limits of carefully designed schedules in a real-life setting. Having grown up playing handball, she appreciates environments that require quick decisions, cooperation, and occasional tolerance for minor bruises. Additionally, her Australian Shepherd “Wickie” ensures that movement remains a daily practice rather than a purely academic concept.
