(Neurophysiological effects of cognitive training with and without physical exercise on executive function in young, healthy adults during basic military training)

This study investigates whether cognitive training during basic military training can enhance executive functions (working memory, inhibition) in recruits of the Swiss Armed Forces. It also examines whether the effectiveness of this training can be enhanced by combining it with acute physical exercise. A second aim of the study is to use cross-sectional analyses to elucidate relationships between physical fitness and executive functions within this population. In addition to behavioural data, we use electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV) to uncover underlying mechanisms.
