Emily hails from the great state of New Jersey in the USA. On a quest to read minds and body language, she studied psychology and quickly dispelled her former pseudoscientific dreams with realistic goals. This began during her BA at the University of Hartford, where she examined metacognitive strategies for learning and enrichment of higher educational experiences. She then travelled across the pond to pursue a MSc at the University of Oxford, where she examined the time course of attentional facilitation in perceptual learning.
In her PhD at the University of Mannheim, she examined the mechanisms and clinical differentiation of attention and motor disorders. Most recently, she has fuelled not only her interest in understanding how thought and movement are connected across the lifespan, but also her enthusiasm for cheese and chocolate at the University of Basel. She enjoys travelling, petting stray cats, and photography - including in dangerous combination. Fun fact about Emily: she is now fully vaccinated against Rabies.
